Curved Stone? How does that work?

Ever wondered how they bend stone?

Well, there are different ways to achieve a curved look depending on the stone you select. Is it a natural or engineered stone?

Selected stone masons can use thermoforming, which is a process of heating engineered stone and bending it to a desired radius. Keep in mind that this option is not always available in the colour you select, and is more expensive than straight cut and flat.

The other option is when the stonemason glues small strips of stone onto a substrate, then polishes them into a curve. This is also more expensive than straight, flat stone, as it requires a substrate, more cuts and more polishing.

What are your thoughts on curves?
